Karviva Founder Is the Focus of Regional Emmy-Nominated Feature

 

St. Louis, MO (September 13, 2021) — Karviva Beverage founder Angela Zeng is sharing her story in a television feature nominated for a 2021 Mid-America Emmy® Award. The awards recognize outstanding achievements in television and allied media.

Dr. Zeng and her wellness drinks are the focus of a story which aired on the Higher Education Channel and in the HEC-produced show “Spotlight” in March of 2021 on KPLR 11, a CW-affiliated television station in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Zeng’s story came to the attention of producer Nancy Pasternak as their daughters swim on a year round club team together. “My daughter bragged about how Angela made these great tasting smoothies. But then I heard about Angela’s background and her launch into the wellness drink industry. I knew I had a great story on my hands,” says Pasternak.

Her bosses at HEC-TV encouraged her to pursue the story as they were impressed by Dr. Zeng’s journey as an immigrant to St. Louis and how she combined her education in biochemistry and pathology with her experiences growing up using traditional Chinese medicine. “Her story is both interesting and inspiring,” Pasternak adds. The Regional Emmy® awards will be announced at a virtual gala on October 23rd.

Dr. Zeng and Karviva Beverage will also being featured on the Emmy®-nominated television show “Food is Love” which airs on PBS. The show follows Danish American chef Lasse Sorensen as he spends time in the kitchen of some of the Midwest’s most-celebrated restaurants and eateries. The show featuring Dr. Zeng and her wellness drinks is scheduled to air on Monday, October 11th on PBS Channel 9 in St. Louis at 7pm.
