Prebiotic vs Probiotic: The Difference Between Karviva and Kombucha

How do you fill your body with the proper nutrients? Go with your gut! Digestive health is critical to your body’s overall function. Many health beverages, like kombucha, promote the ability to help you improve your body’s digestive function.  Yet, this is only attainable when you’re proactive about the ingredients present in your diet: that’s why Karviva is designed differently than kombucha.

In recent years, consumers in the U.S. have focused on obtaining probiotics, or good bacteria, from beverages like kombucha, verses supplement pills, to naturally contribute to their gut health. Kombucha contains microbiota, or live active bacteria, designed to promote digestive health.

So, since the ingredients in Karviva beverages are also focused on healthy digestion, how do they differ from kombucha? The main difference is that Karviva beverages all contain prebiotics, which are essential for the survival of good microbiota, like bacteria, that live in our colons. Foods that support better levels of short chain fatty acids (SCFA) are sometimes called prebiotics because they feed the microbiota that benefits our bodies.

With your intake of probiotics coming from kombucha, eating the wrong types of foods alongside that beverage, like high proteins or fats, can actually starve the good bacteria your gut has! Not to mention, the science is still out on the exact benefits kombucha offers outside of digestive health, such as killing cancer or acting as a “fountain of youth”.

However, every single Karviva drink contains prebiotics and the Karviva juices and smoothies are rich in dietary fiber, which is critical for gut health. In addition, ingredients in certain Karviva beverages such as Arronia berries or mung bean sprouts are packed with antioxidant power and the ability to help you naturally detox.

Word of caution, if the probiotics or smoothie drinks you purchase are labeled “organic” or “non-GMO,” make sure you read the ingredient label carefully. Many labels list “pea protein” or “protein from peas” (or even hemp, rice, soy or whey protein) which means these are purified proteins and not the whole food you should be eating. It’s the difference between processed food which may contain harmful chemicals and natural whole food ingredients!

Look for real, unprocessed food listed truthfully in the ingredients, like “oats” or “quinoa flour”, found in Karviva shakes such as Empower, Pro-Fit, Silky Oat, and Avo-Keto.  In the end, if you take care of your gut with the proper nutrition, it will take care of you!
