Craig Miller, Karviva Brand Ambassador, has been a student of Tai Chi for over 15 years, and he has been teaching for eight years.
Craig Miller began his Tai Chi journey while taking his Mom to a class, hoping it would help her with her Parkinson’s disease. He started feeling the health benefits himself almost immediately. He noticed better balance and improved health. Plus, he was sleeping better at night. Craig’s Mom also saw improvement in her Parkinson’s symptoms. Craig continued practicing Tai Chi with his Mother, until her passing in 2014.
Craig has been teaching Tai Chi for eight years. Currently, he teaches 16 classes in 8 locations – totaling over 170 students every week – providing instruction in the Chen, Yang, and Sun styles Tai Chi, Qigong, and meditation. Craig teaches both the standing and seated forms, consisting mainly of Dr. Paul Lams systems. He also practices push hands.
Craig teaches people of all age groups and abilities. Because of his mother’s story, he has a fondness in his heart for people with Parkinson’s and other chronic diseases. He teaches four classes a week for people with Parkinson’s, two classes at local nursing homes, and one class at the Jewish community center adult day care. He has successfully taught people with Arthritis, Parkinson’s, MS, Polio, Cardiac issues, Diabetes, Myasthenia Gravis, stroke recovery, spinal cord injury, joint replacement, stress reduction and balance problems.
Craig has over 1500 hours of teaching experience and is certified by the American Arthritis Association to teach Tai Chi. He is also certified in Fall Prevention and is a member of the “Show Me Falls Free Missouri” coalition. Craig holds First Aid and CPR certifications to keep his class members safe throughout class.
Craig has trained with Tia Chi gurus Kym Huie, Jef Morris, Chen Huixian, Mark Rasmus, Master Yun Xiang Tseng, and Dr. Paul Lam. He is currently studying to become a senior trainer in Dr. Lam’s organization, one of only 57 in the country and the 2nd in Missouri.
Craig lives in St. Louis’s South County with his wife and two daughters. In his free time, he enjoys reading, family barbecues, canoeing, and camping. His goal in life is to make Puka Dogs.
Because of his active lifestyle and his goal to keep his family healthy, Craig supports Karviva’s plant-based drinks. With close ties to Chinese culture and medicine through his knowledge of Tia Chi, Craig fully believes in the Karviva philosophy of simple, wholesome ingredients for better health and a better world.
More and more of the food produced in America is laced with sugar and other unnatural substances. I appreciate the Karviva is made with all natural ingredients focusing on traditional Chinese foods which are in line with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is wonderful to have a great tasting drink that is good for you made with sustainable ingredients.
